Just an FYI for those in the US with insurance issues

teratomarty

Important information! Insurance coverage decisions are made by medically ignorant bean-counters. Until we can dismantle the whole shitty system, know how to scare them into submission.

This is like that procedure Mr. Incredible told that old lady

Medical Hack:
So, your doctor ordered a test or treatment and your insurance company denied it. That is a typical cost saving method.
Okay, here is what you do:

  1. Call the insurance company and tell them you want to speak with the “HIPPA Compliance/Privacy Officer” (By federal law, they have to have one)
  2. Then ask them for Names as well as Credentials of every person Accessing Your Record to make that decision of denial. By law you have a Right to that informantion.
  3. They will almost always Reverse the Decision very shortly rather than admit that the committee is made of low paid H.S. Graduates, looking at all “criteria words,” making the decision to deny your care. Even in the rare case it is made by medical personel, it is unlikely that it is made by a board cerified doctor in that specialty and they Do Not Want You to Know This!
  4. Any refusal should be reported to the U.S. Office of Civil Rights (OCR.gov) as a HIPPA violation.

I wonder if anyone has made a list like this regarding Medicare (federal run health insurance) and Medicaid (state run health insurance) because the process for challenging denials is absolutely different, but I’ve never known how to do it myself nor found a guide on how to.

teakayblog

Hi, I’m on Medicaid. I need to be on an IV biologic. I developed antibodies to the class of med i was previously on, and when trying to get on a different one, medicaid told me “no, go back to taking the kind of medicine that doesn’t work on you anymore.” i had to call them like 30 times about it. they wanted my prescribing dr to submit special paperwork abt it. apparently his office didn’t fill out enough detail and they still denied me, even tho i called them and told them “i was already on this class of meds and it didn’t work.” they wanted better paperwork from my doctor. my doctor told me he filled out the form correctly and in detail. i had to tell medicaid to look at the papers again, then had to have my Dr resend them, and then finally they accepted my new med. all the while i was shitting blood for 2 months.

idk if that’s helpful to anyone but like, call medicaid & ask what forms they need from ur dr and have them send those forms (know ur dr’s fax #), then after ur doc says they sent them, call medicaid again and hound them abt the forms?

handing out flyers to transmascs about estradiol cream (can be used to keep your pussy wet and healthy but without triggering periods or having any feminizing effects) and transfemmes about Cialis (works even post-orchi)

Estrogen also comes in ring and suppository tablet format if you can’t deal with ooze. Atrophy in the area can also do things like make you more prone to UTIs, so if things in the area are getting generally out of whack, you don’t have to just keep suffering.

Editing to add (because a friend pointed out the phrasing is exclusionary): people on estrogen/testosterone, not just transfem/transmasc

Pls do not reblog anything with the old disability pride flag, it does cause seizure and migraines, please use the new one which was created by the same person with the feedbacks of many other disabled people.

This is the safe one:

a “Straight Diagonal” version of the Disability   Pride Flag: A charcoal grey flag with a diagonal band from  the top left   to bottom right corner, made up of five parallel stripes in  red, gold,  pale grey, blue, and green Description ends.ALT

Dont use the zigzag one, your making disabled space inaccessible for a part of the community.

patch notes 1.0.1: visual contrast no longer causes strobe effect when scrolling. Zigzag design was difficult to visually process and anxiety inducing, and was removed. Colors have been lightened and desaturated. For the safety of all users, please make sure you are up to date.

The best drawing advice I can give to anyone who wants to improve quickly is to use cheap notepad paper and ballpoint pens. I know it's tempting to buy the cool fancy supplies but then you'll feel pressured to not waste them. Use garbage materials and burn through them with zero thought. Only use pen because it forces you to commit and stops you from second guessing your lines and redrawing them over and over. Learn how to use your mistakes and then learn how to get it right the first time. I took numerous art classes and nothing taught me more than buying a big pack of Bics and legal pads and sketching anything that came to mind without hesitation. Fill a few pages everyday with the first thing that comes to mind. Don't rip out pages you don't like, just flip to the next page and try again. Watch yourself improve. If you really want to be a good artist, you need to learn how to draw from the ground up without relying on quality materials.

I have never felt so validated in never having given up on Tumblr.

an Elon musk tweet To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits: - Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day - Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day - New unverified accounts to 300/dayALT

IT GETS WORSE!

"This is hilarious. It appears that Twitter is DDOSing itself.

The Twitter home feed's been down for most of this morning. Even though nothing loads, the Twitter website never stops trying and trying.

In the first video, notice the error message that I'm being rate limited. Then notice the jiggling scrollbar on the right.

The second video shows why it's jiggling. Twitter is firing off about 10 requests a second to itself to try and fetch content that never arrives because Elon's latest genius innovation is to block people from being able to read Twitter without logging in.

This likely created some hellish conditions that the engineers never envisioned and so we get this comedy of errors resulting in the most epic of self-owns, the self-DDOS.

Unbelievable. It's amateur hour."

So he artificially limited the number of tweets you can see per day with a "free" account.

Once you hit your limit, it stops you from loading the page. But it also doesn't know WHY it isn't loading, so it keeps TRYING.

Twitter is literally hitting itself in the face ten times per second per user.

This is so completely amateurish it's unbelievable. It's like putting your car in neutral and slamming your foot on the gas until your engine redlines and then wondering why it's making a horrible noise and a terrible smell but not going anywhere.

Even better, Musk lied about the reason this is happening.
